I am a native to Louisiana and a transplant to Georgia.
I think I mentioned before that I am an Early Childhood Education grad student. I have two children (almost 13 and 9) and am married to the Professor (he’s a PhD candidate in Philosophy and teaches courses). We live in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in northeast Georgia. For the last four years, I have home schooled our children. This year we moved to a new county where the kids could go to decent schools while I student-teach. By fall of 2008, I hope to be in the classroom (although if I had my druthers, we would still be home schooling).
For many years, I have been interested in Irish and Scottish dancing. I performed with a local Irish Ceili group until the majority of the dancers went their separate ways. Afterwards, I found a Royal Scottish Dancing group (Thistle and Kudzu) and begin practicing with them. I have performed at the Robert Burn’s Night dinner for the last 2 years as well as the local Kirking of the Tartan for the last 3 years. This year I performed at the Loch Hartwell Highland Games. Our family is also active in the local SCA group.
I’ve been knitting for about four years. A fellow home schooler turned me on to knitting and I’ve been chuggin’ along ever since. I am a quasi eco-freak and therefore love the organic yarns and earthy colors (any shade of blue, green, or brown). Turtles became a passion when I was pregnant with my first child and I also got hooked on Sting’s album, Dream of the Blue Turtles, particularly “Moon Over Bourbon Street.” When I became pregnant with my second child, I developed a fascination with hawks. Even today I see them as a wonderful, majestic animal and a good omen. I am a true Earth Mother and am dedicated to Gaia.

I saw your post on Shut Up. I live in Flowery Branch (just south of Gainesville. I’m part of a great knitting group. Come and join us if you’re close!
